The Big Discussion.

Lets talk about something very active out in the world that everyone is talking about. Artificial Intelligence also known as AI. Now its all the talk of any involvement with the future. Remember this is all just my opinion. But thats why we are here right!? To have these conversations and chats. About certain topics that matter. Also are open minded to new and different perspectives? So comment back if you wanna chat more. Or you know where to find me. But my thoughts on AI? Is that its a pretty damn cool advancement in the world. I hardly use it but the little bit I have used. Its a great tool! We as a humans could really benefit from the things it can do to help us. In ways like efficiency with our work or life. Help us be more organized. Help us looking up research and statistics. Possibly help us problem solve something quicker. There are many more things for sure. But I want to continue on. I’m sure you know plenty yourself 🙂 One of the bigger issues I do have with it though is. With all the abilities it has or could potentially have that we will regress as humans. Now what do I mean by regress? Well when you get more reliant on something or someone to do something for you. What tends to happen to a lot of us? We get lazier in that area. Why because we don’t have to put thought into that area anymore. So we are loosing brain activity which overtime makes you more weak minded. Thats just facts. So we have to slow down and take a step back. Then take a 100ft view of all this information and talk being thrown around. Then really take time to analyze and see where this can be a great tool to help you. But not do do everything for you. Think about it. If you are someone who when you say something you want to be confident in your words. But then use AI to do everything like write your essays or assignments or doing your work for you. So you have AI write an awesome paper lets say. So awesome people ask you about it in person. If you don’t know the information to why what was written was written. Your not going to know what to say. You wont be confident in your words. Don’t you want to actually have belief and conviction in your words? Thats a part of how you progress and grow as a human. Belief and conviction because of experience and knowledge you’ve gained. Also being genuine and that real human involvement and interaction. Its imbedded in us. Lets not loose that. Here are some statistics to take a look at.
AI’s Current Impact On the Job Market
AI may replace 300 million jobs (Goldman Sachs via BBC)
That represents 9.1% of all jobs worldwide. Potential job losses will not be evenly distributed across different sectors of the economy. Instead, they will likely be concentrated in the professions most vulnerable to being automated via generative AI tools (writing, photography, software development, etc.).
By 2025, two million workers in manufacturing could be replaced by automated tools (MIT / Boston University)
Most of these automated tools are robots, not strictly AI, but some of these lost jobs will be replaced with new AI tools.
By 2030, 14% of employees will have been forced to change their career because of AI (McKinsey)
That’s 14% of the global workforce, or 375 million workers.
One in four CEOs expect generative AI to lead to job cuts of 5% or more in 2024 (PwC)
PwC surveyed 4,702 CEOs from 105 countries about the potential job losses resulting from generative AI tools. Only a minority of them believed that would lead to significant job cuts, but that small figure could still represent tens of thousands of jobs across different organizations and countries.
75% of CEOs think generative AI will significantly change their business within the next three years (PwC)
A large majority of business leaders polled by PwC saw the need for training in new skills, improving cybersecurity protocols, and a host of other changes. All due to the introduction and adoption of generative AI.
80% of the US workforce could have at least 10% of their tasks impacted by large language models (ARXIV)
Practically every job involves some tasks that are vulnerable to being automated by AI. Only a small minority of workers are totally unexposed to AI.
More than 7.5 million data entry jobs will be lost by 2027 (WEF)
This represents the largest predicted loss of jobs of any profession. The professions that are predicted to lose the most jobs are those extremely vulnerable to AI. Data entry clerks was first, administrative secretaries was second, and accounting was third. We need to be aware.
47% of US workers are at risk of losing their jobs to automation over the coming decade (CEPR)
In this case, automation also includes non-AI tools like robots.
It will take at least 20 years to automate just half of current worldwide work tasks (McKinsey)
While the potential economic gains from automation are great, they are a difficult potential to fully realize. Many barriers prevent widespread adoption of automation tools; these barriers, which can be legal, political, economic, social, technological, or something else entirely, may take decades to overcome.
23.5% of US companies have replaced workers with ChatGPT (Resume Builder)
According to a Resume Builder survey of 1,000 US business leaders, 49% of companies have already adopted ChatGPT. Of those companies, 48% say the AI tool has replaced workers.
Ok So theres some stats and articles to check out. Here are some great interviews and talks.
If you don’t know who Simon Sinek is look him up. Written some great books also.
This video has one of the creators of AI. Geoffrey Hinton.
So what do You Think?
My ending thoughts are this. Lets just make sure we are taking time to learn fully about this AI. Also what we allow it to involve itself into your life with.I think we as people need to make sure we don’t regress as people and our intelligence inside of us also . We all have so much work to be done. If your a person of faith look up Leviticus 26:1. So use it wisely. Use it intentionally in ways that will not harm other people or yourself. We need to make sure we keep that human interaction alive. We can’t loose that. So lets do OUR part then. Lets use it to make us better people. What are your thoughts? Talk soon my friend!
