Why is Change So Hard!

You would think its easy!

The desire and action knowing theres things you know you need to change. You think would be easy to just find a new way and just go! So why is it so damn hard for us a lot of times? Whats the hold up! Why do we have to “start over again” as people say? Unfortunately there is not just one answer to this problem. But lets gain some ground on a better understanding of why we feel the need to change. Well I can speak from personal experience for sure on this lol. My wanting to change at different stages in my life. Along with different decisions/actions that came with that change also. It doesn’t all happen at once. But I believe you have to really look at what you do during your days and why your doing them. If there’s things in those days that you know are keeping you from progressing in areas your wanting change to happen in? Then you have to slow down and pour some additional focus into that thought/action to change.. Are you doing or thinking something thats activating a thought or habit that you then do? Whats feeding the backwards actions in your life? Or what are you telling yourself? Self talk is actually very important! Why? Because unfortunately we can be our biggest enemy at times. We listen to that damn voice in our head that can put doubt or fear or shame into our thoughts. You have to start literally talking to yourself. You have to start re programming it. I wouldn’t suggest doing it out loud lol. But if you have to a little at first do it then! Who cares what the outside world might think! They aren’t paying your bills or helping you achieve anything. If its a journey in getting in shape and eating better? Then its time to start making moves to make that happen. So as we can see theres a lot of scenario’s right! Well we need to find out what we want to change and take action. Lets dive into things a little more.

Look at Simon Sinek’s view here.

Another one here by Simon Sinek. But he’s so educated on the topic. I love what he shares about the importance of embracing Change. Understanding that life is never predictable anyways. So Why keep this sense of this word called fear?

What are some helpful ways to help overcome it?

So now we need to take some action my friend. So what can we do? Well lets talk about some ways. Believe it or not your nutrition and what foods you eat can effect so much on how your respond, energy, clarity of mind just to name a few. Looking at whats in your kitchen or the wrappers that may be in your car lol. Your a living machine. So give it the best shot at being the most useful for you. Reaching out depending on the feeling. Sometimes, if it’s too much, I reach out to someone I know and trust. Just speaking to someone can make a huge difference. It can settle your nerves but also help you to just get some things off your chest. That can clear your mind to refocus. For me something that has also helped me is growing my relationship with God. If you believe. But don’t really go to church or listen to sermons or read the bible. I’m not here to judge I was all of those. But I would encourage you to start building that relationship with your Father. Since I’ve put a lot more focus I can honestly say it helps ease the pain of change and more so embrace it. Or when random situations come up that aren’t good. He’s there to cry out to and give comfort. I’m not trying to get too emotional here lol. But this is us having a conversation right? One of the biggest ways I believe is changing your view of “CHANGE”. look at it a different way. Thats why I say you have to talk to yourself. Get yourself focused. How ever that may be. Embrace it.

Should Vs Want.

We all have a long list of things that we “should” do and things we “want” to do. Of course it is easier for us to do the things we want to do before the things we should do. So when you are looking at changing a behavior. Like wanting be more active. Think about what you would want to do. Don’t make a goal to run if you don’t like running. You may think it will get you into shape faster than walking or hiking. But if you don’t enjoy it, you are less likely to do it then. As a result, you feel like you failed and are less likely to try again in the future.

Be your Biggest Fan!

When studies have been done on people who have lost a pretty substantial amount of weight and kept it off. Researchers have not been able to find any similarities in what they ate or how much they exercised. The common thing in these people was the belief in themselves that they could change. We need encouragement, praise and understanding as we are trying to figure it out. Especially from ourselves.

Heres one more great video on change. I like how Taylor Harrell breaks down change in the simplest of forms we go thru and how to navigate thru them.

Time to Close the Deal.

So I think it’s time. Time to put your damn foot down! Time to take a stand! Time to Man/Woman up! Reach out to me if your ready and need help my friend. I’m here to in this process with you. We all are. We are all going thru something all the time. But need to take actions to change things. So lets make our lives about progression. Not stagnation. Your better than that! We have to also remember. We cant expect new. With using the old ways of thinking.
